The short version

Snipper does not collect, transmit, or sell your data. Your screenshots never leave your device. There is no telemetry in the app, no live analytics on this website today, and no user accounts.

What the app stores locally

  • Your screenshots: stored as temporary files on your device, deleted when evicted from the sidebar
  • Your settings (hotkey, theme, save folder): stored in your Windows user profile folder as a JSON file
  • Log files: stored in your Windows user profile folder, rotated daily, retained for 7 days. Contain debug information only, never image data.
  • Your license activation token (Pro only): stored in your settings file. Contains only your email, plan name, device identifier hash, and a cryptographic signature.

Network requests (Pro activation only)

The free version of Snipper makes zero network requests. It works entirely offline.

Snipper Pro makes a single outbound HTTPS request when you activate your license key. This request sends:

  • Your license key
  • A one-way SHA256 hash of your Windows install ID (no hardware serials, no IP address, no username)
  • Your OS platform (windows) and app version

After activation, the app validates your license entirely offline using a cryptographic signature. No further network requests are made during normal use.

Data deletion

To request deletion of your data (email + device hash stored in our database), email snipperapphq@gmail.com. We will delete your record within 7 days.
